Congratulations on your new glasses. We hope they will perform to your expectations.
You have chosen a superior and premium product and alot of care, expertise, time and expense has gone into their journey to you.
Hence, you owe it to yourself and the glasses to show them the respect they deserve.
We would love you to get the maximum from your spectacles both in performance and longevity.
So, we have listed some basic pointers below on glasses care (some obvious, others not so obvious!) and can assure you that if followed, you will be able to enjoy your glasses for many years.
- Always use the case you are given with the glasses when they are not in use. Soft cases do NOT offer the same structural support that hard cases offer, esp. in handbags, shirt pockets & tool boxes.
- Clean your glasses with the cloth you received with the glasses. These cloths can get greasy, so weekly, we recommend you pop them into the washing machine
- If your spectacle lenses are greasy, they can be cleaned with warm soapy water and dried with their soft cloth.
- Keep the glasses AWAY from direct heat e.g. windowsills, saunas, steam rooms, car dashboards, etc. The heat can damage the lens coatings and plastic frames can expand and warp.
- We offer a complimentary glasses fitting, so regularly come visit us and we will ensure you spectacles are fitting you 100%. This will prevent glasses slipping down nose or worse, falling off and landing on tiles!
- Putting glasses on your head causes the arms to stretch, hence making them loose and hugely increasing their likelihood of falling off!
- Remove your glasses before getting dressed/undressed (obvious, we know! But you’d be surprised at what people do!!)
- Remove your glasses before using hairspray as this can damage lens coatings
- We do NOT recommend sleeping, showering or bathing/swimming with your glasses on. They WILL get damaged.
- Children have a tendency to be a little “rougher” with their glasses, this phase doesn’t last forever we promise. However, in the meantime they will need more frequent visits to ensure they fit optimally.
The most common causes of damage to glasses we see are caused by lack of care and attention. Accidental damage caused by falls, footballs and tantrums are few and far between. Remember, once collected YOU are responsible for the care of your glasses. Unless specifically requested, only safety/sports glasses made to high endurance specifications are able to withstand more robust use. All other glasses are designed for normal use and require care and attention!!!
